I am 17 years old and started making my own Tulipa about a month ago and I started noticing some strange things happening to me * Note: My Tulpa is a young man who turns into a white cat (don't laugh please) The important thing is that I started to find claw scratches on my arms and my hair is white on my clothes But I doubt it because I lied to myself, thinking that I was only imagining and my enthusiasm for making Tolba, and the question now is this is one of the symptoms of Tolba's success ??
the fact they called it a "tulipa" makes me think actual troll isn't out of the question
OR lying about age
If this is actually a 14 year old or even younger, I wouldn't go "severely deluded seek medical help NOW" it's just... chunibyo
Bro that's where the channers got the word from
Sprulupa turned into tulpa with mystery and magic in tibet , and that description of tulpa was co-opted sometime in the 2000s iirc
1:44 AM
the idea and concept of tulpas as spiritual entities still exists in tandem especially in media
1:45 AM
Supernatural, Doctor Who, all sorts of TV movies etc
Not everyone who has looked into tulpamancy may be aware the common consensus is it's caused by a psychological explanation, and some tulpamancers have metaphysical beliefs about tulpas. Starting with "you're delusional" when they're asking if something is tulpa related or not isn't necessary and it doesn't accomplish anything. This conversation didn't need to end with shunning and making fun of a beginner. And even if they were a troll, you made a big fool out of yourselves and gave them exactly what they wanted.(edited)
Nah if a troll came in here and said that they wanted us to agree and look crazy not tell them off. We gave them exactly what they didn’t want.(edited)
I agree strongly with Ranger first of all, and second, this community seems extremely bad with differentiating trolling, possible trolling, and people who just have... interesting ideas in their head
4:00 PM
Even POSSIBLE trolls should be given straight advice, just for the chance they're not a troll, but people who just come in with these strange ideas? It hurts literally no one to treat them as they appear, ie misguided people, and offer them correct advice.
4:00 PM
No, a troll is NOT going to be like "haha LMAO they actually gave me ADVICE!"
4:00 PM
A troll is going to be like "haha LMAO I got a response" no matter what, and your guys' response to that was all a troll could ever ask for - just to be clear
4:01 PM
But they didn't strike me as a troll at all, there are tons of people who believe things like the above could happen
I wasn't around for this either, but I agree. I also think people underestimate just how differently other people can experience the world, up to and including people who are so suggestible as to easily experience hallucination in the right circumstance. But as it stands people seem to want to be skeptical about other people's experience just because they're more intense than what they are used to.
Also, pot calling the kettle black - My worldview is not that tulpas are a delusion. But, scientifically speaking there is no reason to think they aren't at the moment.
You can't just assume they'll understand why you're saying what you're saying - you can't just be lazy for your own sake, or again, you shouldn't be answering newbie questions
Luminesce: So a canned response of "Tulpas are just in your head, they can't affect the physical world, and it's unhealthy to believe they can" would have been perfect(edited)
4:04 PM
But of course a more in-depth explanation, and a "If you really think things like this are happening you may need to see a professional", were optional additions
4:05 PM
TL;DR If the person WAS delusional then you should really consider what would actually help them and not be super rough with them - and if they were a troll, they'd enjoy you telling them off even more than a legitimate response(edited)
I wouldn't be inclined to be rough with anyone unless they are interested in some sort of lively debate. Empathy is the default way you should be approaching social situations, or you're allowing yourself to be self-indulgent because of the anonymity of the internet, as far as I'm concerned.
Luminesce: Just consider for a moment, the types of people you should expect to show up asking questions in a Tulpamancy Q&A channel on Discord(edited)
4:11 PM
We really can't afford to be harsh with people who are easily misguided or aren't all there, y'know?
4:11 PM
Also, trolls are far less common on .info than said people, in my many years of experience
4:12 PM
It would even be worth falling for one every long once in a while to make sure we actually help the people with legitimate "interesting" questions(edited)
i help people if i feel like their being genuine, im not gonna let someone walk in here and spew a bunch of trash as if it were reality and not call them out for it
Luminesce: Yes, call them out for it in a way that helps them(edited)
4:15 PM
(assuming we're talking about a random newbie asking a question, here, not a more long-standing member, who you may have to have a full on argument with)
if theyre someone like the dude who even started this stupid discussion, the odds are incredibly likely they werent going to be taking any of it seriously anyway
are you seriously trying to tell me the dude who was going on about basically turning into some sort of werewolf is someone that should be sincerely aided by people on the internet, and not dismissed as a bullshitter/someone who needs to stop fucking around and go to a psych ward
They asked one question about whether they could be harmed by their tulpa physically. You jumped straight up their ass about it. They provided no followup, and completely disconnected from any conversation.
4:19 PM
That's not how a troll would have responded.
4:19 PM
Sure, they're probably delusional and need help. Shitting on someone isn't helping.
Scratching yourself at some point and them suggestibly taking it as a sign their tulpa scratched them really isn't that much of a stretch for someone superstitious and suggestible.
Luminesce: Also yeah, I randomly get scratch marks on me every long once in a while, happens when my nails were apparently accidentally sharp either while I was ~asleep or maybe in the shower(edited)
4:23 PM
So I didn't even think about the scratch marks comment
>tulpa is guy who turns into cat
>i am finding scratch marks on my arms
>my hair is white on my clothes
it literally reads like a young adult werewolf novel
